What came first, a site or a narrative? And what if both are just fiction? Or what produces whom and how - the site its narrative or the narrative its site? Or are the two always in tension with each other and dependent?

The site can be real, but its experience always enters a dialectic with its fiction. And is the experience of a site then a play of absence and presence, distance and proximity, as well as an interweaving of reality and fiction that always constitutes a self-reflexive moment?

In the exhibition On Site at the Walter Haymann Foundation, the Master's students from the Zurich University of the Arts create an aesthetic experience in their works that thematizes this tension. They are real fictions of an intangible, unrepresentable experience with the site, which create real situations of reflection that become perceptible in the exhibition context.
